From Mrs. Kurkiewicz, December 14, 2017

We are well into our school year already!
It is hard to believe that it is already December and thoughts of snow and the coming Holidays are on everyone’s minds!

Things have been moving along nicely in all of our classrooms. I am thoroughly enjoying being in the classroom again this year and sharing my love of math with the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students! In 6th grade we have just finished up a unit all about equations, expressions and inequalities. In 7th grade we recently completed working on all things to do with decimals -- including scientific notation and we are now embarking on a study of fractions. In my two 8th grade groups we are working with inequalities, the various forms of linear equations and how to graph them.

There is a happy buzz up and down the hall and in the classrooms! Students are busy learning!

Advent season is upon us! During Advent, we not only prepare ourselves to celebrate the birth of Jesus, but we also check in to see if we are doing all the things that will keep us ready to receive Jesus when he comes again. We are gathering as a school each morning before school during Advent to light the candles, hear a reading and to pray together. Students also will have the opportunity for Adoration and Confession on Friday, December 15. Looking ahead, I hope everyone will be able to attend our Christmas Program on Friday, December 22, at 1:00 pm. The students are busily preparing to entertain everyone! We are also looking forward to our Birthday Party for Jesus with our Spirit Families on Friday, December 22, in the morning.

My hope for you as we travel through this Advent season together is that you find time to slow down and enjoy the gifts of the season...
